Students at Clara Love Elementary School will soon find out there’s nothing quite like the great outdoors.
As the recipient of the 2021 Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) grant, Clara Love Elementary School students will have the opportunity to explore and participate in hands-on learning scenarios in their very own outdoor learning classroom.
Unfortunately, last year’s freeze killed most of the greenery in an area in front of campus and all the bushes had to be removed. School leadership envisioned that exact space could be transformed into a shared community learning environment, which prompted Clara Love Principal Lisa Crosslin to apply for the A4LE grant.
“We are excited to have been selected and look forward to providing this common space for learning and exploring for our students,” said Crosslin. “We also look forward to welcoming parent-teacher events, outdoor lunch periods and more.”
The $5,000 grant will fund the entire outdoor learning classroom project, and school administrators and contractors have set a tentative completion date for July, 2022.
